Method 1 — Open XML in Notepad (No Install)

Notepad is built into Windows and reads XML perfectly. The output is unformatted but all data is visible. Use this for a quick check of what the file contains.

Right-click the XML file → Open with → Notepad If Notepad does not appear in the list: click Choose another app → scroll down → select Notepad. Tick "Always use this app" to make Notepad the default for all XML files.
