Foxmail is a free email client originally developed by Allen Zhang. It gained widespread popularity after becoming the official mail client for Tencent, a major Chinese internet service provider. At its peak, Foxmail captured over 32% of the Chinese email client market and boasted more than 3 million daily users in China.

Despite its success, many global users chose not to upgrade to newer versions released under Tencent’s management, preferring the last stable version created by Allen Zhang. Nonetheless, Foxmail retained its appeal due to its extensive feature set, intuitive user interface, and lightweight performance.

Foxmail caters to both home and small business users. It includes a traditional interface for managing emails, organizing them by directories and labels, a robust message editor, a scheduler, a group message manager powered by QQ, push notifications, import/export options, and many other features found in leading email clients.

In recent years, Foxmail has introduced a redesigned interface and modernized features, making it suitable for both casual users and large enterprises. Notable additions include an integrated notepad for easy data management, organization, and synchronization across desktop and mobile platforms.

The app also supports synchronization with cloud services for storage and contact databases and allows handling of extra-large attachments exceeding 1GB. However, these advanced features are missing in version 5.0.8, the last release before Tencent's acquisition. Since then, Tencent has implemented numerous upgrades, and by early 2021, Foxmail had reached version 7.2, with additional enhancements planned.
